Tell us about yourself and where you’re from!
I’m Sara El Beshbichi. I was born in Milan (Italy) the 22nd January 1990. I’ve always been more able to draw than speak, since I was a child. Images probably are the easiest way to comunicate for me. I studied art at the Artistic High School and than New Technologies for Art at the Academy of Beauty Arts of Brera, but just after that I started my studies in photography at Istituto Italiano di Fotografia.
How did you get into photography?
My first approach was at the University. I had an exam of History of Modern Art and the professor gave me the opportunity to have a lesson as a professor about the Kitsch and David La Chapelle. At that age I was studying him for his Videomaker work so it was an occasion to see more about his Photography. He’s been one of my favourite authors for years!
What is the story behind this photoshoot?
The will to create something immediate, tribal as natural but particular, telling the story of a glamour way to interpret colours, movements and strong looks of a tribal Images, colours and sound. I had this view of the movement as something controlled but visible, so I choose to play with a mixed light to create the “lights” that you can see.
What does taking photos mean to you?
One day, a friend of mine told me that “The existence of Beauty today most to be remember”. And I can’t agree more. Photography is part of the amazing Beauty that we made.
What did you choose to become a photographer, above all else?
I don’t know how to give you the right answer. I can say that I choose my way to communicate and to create images that are my idea of Beauty. Before Photography I painted, I sculpted, I played guitar, you know, today I love all this languages, but I found in Photography the right language.
Who or what is your main inspiration?
I take inspiration everywhere. From ancient art to modern art. From music, from cinema. I love a lot of characters or productions that make me want to do new stuff. I have a list, you know. Of people that I’d like to portray. Lady Gaga, Maryl Streep, Angelina Jolie, Barak and Michelle Obama, Hayao Miyazaki, Tilda Swinton, Jim Carrey, Alberto Angela are just few names of the list, for their creativity, for something that they said or just to be the exact idea of beauty that I have.
If you could do a photoshoot anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Can I say just one? I’d like to make pictures on the Great Wall, at the Gran Canyon, during a Boreal Aurora in Island. Probably the most particular “story” is along the Transiberiana Railway.
What gear do you use?
I have a Canon 5D Mk II actually just with a 50mm F1.4 and a 24-105 F4.0
Who are your favourite photographers right now?
Kristian Schuller, Peter Lindbergh, Annie Leibovitz, Gregory Crewdson, Kiki Xue, and a lot more! But this is my Rose selection.
Where will you be in 10 years time?
Workin’ around the world, growing my family at home.
